Welcome to the Informational Website for Terriann Walker v. People’s United Bank, N.A.

IF YOU HAVE OR HAD A CHECKING ACCOUNT WITH PEOPLE’S UNITED BANK AND WERE CHARGED AN OVERDRAFT FEE BETWEEN FEBRUARY 21, 2011 AND OCTOBER 31, 2016, THEN YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO A PAYMENT FROM A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT.

Summary of Your Options and the Legal Effect of Each Option
Approve the Settlement and Receive a Payment; You need not do anything Unless you excluded yourself from the settlement (see the next paragraph), you will have received a check or a credit to your account (depending on whether you are still a customer of People’s United Bank, N.A. [“PUB”].) Credits to current members were made September 28, 2020. Checks were mailed to former members on October 6, 2020.
Exclude Yourself from the Settlement; Receive No Payment but Release No Claims

You could have chosen to exclude yourself from the settlement or “opt out.” This means you chose not to participate in the settlement. You will keep your individual claims against PUB, but you will not receive a payment. If you excluded yourself from the settlement but want to recover against PUB, you will have to file a separate lawsuit or claim.

The deadline to exclude yourself from the Settlement was February 27, 2020.

Object to the Settlement

You could have filed an objection with the Court explaining why you believe the Court should reject the settlement. If your objection was overruled by the Court, then you will receive a payment and you will not be able to sue PUB for the claims asserted in this litigation.

The deadline to object to the Settlement was March 18, 2020.

These rights and options – and the deadlines to exercise them – along with the material terms of the settlement are explained on this website.
